Chrysalis Flight #59

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Greetings to our supporting communities,

Coastal Georgia Chrysalis will be holding boys flight #59 the weekend of November 13-16,2008 at Tattnall Campground. We need your help in getting the word out that we need young men (caterpillars) to go on this flight. Charley Aimone who is the lay director is also looking for willing servants for this flight as well.

Caterpillar applications can be downloaded from www.segaemmaus.org, scroll down and on the right side you will find the links for the forms. Our fees are only $70 per person. Next year we will be raising them to $75, so get those forms filled out and mailed to the registrar. We would like to see a full conference room but we know who God is preparing.

Charley Aimone can be contacted at caimone@hlchotels.com if you have any questions about what areas need servants.

Please prayerfully consider sponsoring a young man or two on this flight.

The 72 hour prayer vigil should be posted in a few days and can be found at www.3dayol.org/vigil/getcomm.phtml, and scroll down to Coastal Georgia Chrysalis.  We all experienced the awe of seeing all those names that we did not know that were praying for us, so please prayerfully consider signing up for one or more time slots for prayer.

Help with candlelight for Emmaus by the Sea

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Emmaus by the Sea will be this coming weekend at Epworth. During the weekend, there will be a candlelight ceremony and the community needs to have the luminaries transported to Epworth. If someone has access to a trailer in order to transport the luminaries from Honey Creek to Epworth, it would be greatly appreciated. If someone would like to volunteer, please call Dusty Lewis at 266-0140.

Update on Julia Headley

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

First, we would like to thank all of you for your prayers and encouragement regarding Julia’s battle against the “Sensory Integration Disorder” (Autism).

At the first appointment back in May, Dr. Stewart told us that if the meds he prescribed worked then we should see some temporary regression in her symptoms–which we did (then she improved some). We didn’t really see a great deal of visible progress in the 2 ½ months that she had been on the meds (which the Dr. also predicted). We periodically got a little discouraged, but knew this would likely be a long term undertaking (Thank you to those who have encouraged us along the way!).

Julia and Peggy just returned from their second appointment with Dr. Stewart in Austin, TX. They again ran the high-tech battery of tests on Julia. Upon viewing the graphs associated with the tests, it’s clear that Julia’s visual tracking is significantly improved and her center of balance is moving back toward her centerline showing improvement to her vestibular system.

Dr. Stewart believes that Julia is right where he wants her to be at this point. He is running more tests and adjusting her meds & supplements as we progress. Julia is scheduled to go back to Austin in Dec./Jan. So, the short version is this– Julia is improving/healing! We thank God for this and look to Him to finish the great work He has started. Please continue to stand with us in prayer for Julia’s total healing.

Thank you all so very much and may God bless you,

Brad, Peggy, Hannah & Julia Headley

Email Subscriptions (UPDATED)

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Sorry for any confusion the email from earlier today may have caused; I inadvertently sent it before it was finished.  If you are receiving this message, then you will continue to receive emails from our site.

I do want to make everyone aware of a feature that is available for registered users of goldenislesemmaus.org - you can now subscribe to specific types of email by going to the Subscriptions tab under your profile.  From here, you can specify which types of posts you are interested in receiving via email; all other posts will still be available to you at http://www.goldenislesemmaus.org.

This is still an experimental feature so please let me know if you experience any problems.  I am trying to come up with the right set of categories so these may change over time.  Please let me know if you have a specific request about the types of email you’d like to receive (e.g. you want to be emailed about upcoming Gatherings but you will check the website for upcoming Walks).

And as always, please feel free to email me if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for our community’s website.

Blessings & De Colores!

Prayer Request for Melanie Williamson

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The following prayer request is from Melanie Williamson, a pilgrim scheduled for the next Walk to Emmaus, September 2008.  She is asking for prayer for her mother, Melinda Hulling.  Please keep both Melanie and her mom in prayers.  Melanie really wants to attend the Walk in September but it will depend upon how her mother is.  Mrs. Hulling is the wife of a Methodist preacher up in Statesboro.

Fall Walk for Men

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Dear Emmaus Community:

Unfortunately due to the lack of men’s applications we have had to delay the upcoming men’s walk until February. We will have the women’s walk as scheduled. It will be Walk #9 and Karen Byrd is the lay director. We are grateful for this team, sponsors and pilgrims. Please be in prayer and make an extra effort to support Walk #9 with things such as setup, takedown, candle light and closing as this is our first time having a solo walk.

The future of Emmaus depends on our Sponsorship. Please consider who God might be calling you to sponsor. One suggestion I have is for you is to call your Emmaus community at your church together. Brainstorm to come up with a list of potential pilgrims, and then pray over these names. I feel most of us have good intentions but being intentional in this manner will help us to follow through in our efforts. Another idea would be to speak with David Latner or Dusty Lewis as they have had informational programs at their church about Emmaus.
