Letter to Board Members and Community…

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

This letter is written to the Golden Isles Emmaus Community, and the Pilgrims of Women’s Walk to Emmaus #8.

There is no way under heaven, or on earth, that I can thank you all enough for the privilege of serving as Lay Director of Walk #8. It truly was, and will continue to be, a “Spiritual Marker” in my life! The weekend was a mixture of many emotions for me . . . Humility, when I didn’t do things perfectly. Gratefulness, when I saw changed lives. Joy, when I had the privilege of meeting so many “New Found Friends.” The list could go on and on.

The tables were able to bond immediately, and miracles happened throughout each day. Some of these miracles we could see and name, but many took place within individual hearts. It would be impossible to name each one, but it really isn’t necessary. God knows them all, and He instrumented them on a daily basis. I will attempt to write some of them in my journal, so I can allow them to be constant reminders that miracles occur all around us. They may not always happen in extraordinary ways. Sometimes they occur in small insignificant ways but, nevertheless, they are miracles. We just need to be aware of them, and thank God when they happen.

The many acts of servanthood by the team members and the joy of their service are forever etched in my memory and in my heart! I have a mental picture of these team members who went about each day performing many acts of service with much joy! I wish I had enough words to express my thanks, but they know who they are and they know how grateful I am.

The aim for this entire walk was to become
ONE TEAM, ONE MESSAGE, ONE BODY OF CHRIST
and to
BE OBEDIENT, SHOW UP AND LET GOD WORK!
The team members truly were faithful in doing this.

The cross that was given to me at Closing will constantly remind me of each hand that touched it throughout the weekend. It is also a symbol of the love of Christ and the price He paid for all of us! May HE continue to bless all of you in the Golden Isles Community as we work together to bring the “Spirit of Emmaus” to many more lives.

In HIS love,
Eleanor Miller

Pio Party this Friday!

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

The Pio Party for the recent Men’s Walk #7 and Women’s Walk #8 will be held this Friday at First Baptist Church of Brunswick at 7PM. New Pios do not have to bring food so the community is asked to provide extra as we welcome our newest members of the Emmaus family. Come an hour early for Sponsor’s Hour to learn about sponsoring a pilgrim on upcoming walks. Let’s all come out and show our support for the new pilgrims. Childcare will be provided.
